Quotes from our Trainees

‘Having completed my first PGCE placement and subsequent ECT years at St. Michael’s, I feel I have been fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and guidance to help advance my career as a teacher. The support, time and dedication provided to trainees is invaluable. Claire ensures all trainees feel at home, inspiring a sense of belonging allowing us to flourish in our new careers. The CPD delivered over the last four years has shaped my teaching and has allowed me to confidently take on whole school roles, such as my current role of Aim Higher Coordinator.’

Mr. J Belkhu

Science Teacher and Aim Higher Coordinator

My teacher training experience at St Michael’s has been hugely beneficial in my teaching journey. I undertook the Schools Direct route at Newman University and St Michael’s was my main placement. The schools training programme provided me with fantastic CPDL sessions, linking well with first-hand real experiences, and having full responsibility of multiple classes. The support given to myself made me feel a valued part of the school. I am now a full time PE and Maths teacher at St Michael’s CofE High School.

Mr Ben Tolley

PE and Maths Teacher

St Michael’s as my first PGCE placement boasted a wealth of opportunity with regards to my Continuing Professional Development. The support I received was outstanding and put me on a platform to strive in whichever aspect of school life I applied myself to.

Mr William Daniels

Teacher of Maths

Doing my AOR with St Michael’s has been great, I have been supported every step of the way. I have learnt from some of the best teachers how to manage behaviour and how to get the best out of my students. I can hand on heart say that I’m a better teacher for the experience.

Mr Dan Robinson

Teacher of Music

I undertook my teaching training through Newman university, I opted to complete a PGCE. My first placement was here at St. Michael’s. Throughout my whole time on the placement I felt welcome and was supported every step of the way. My department gave me confidence in developing practical skills that I would use everyday in the classroom. I am delighted to now be a valued member of the St. Michael’s community.

Mr Daniel Bevan

English Teacher, House Lead (Griffin), TILP Tutor

I had a brilliant teacher training experience at St Michael’s. I did the School’s Direct route via Newman University for dance. The programme was organised and the staff were very supportive. We had Informative and helpful training led by a variety of people in the school that helped me in my development. I am now the lead teacher of dance and a teacher of PE at St Michael’s C of E High School.
