As a Church of England school, we believe that this Easter is an opportunity to provide all staff and students with the opportunity to engage in the Christian practice of Lent. Lent is marked by the ‘giving up of something’. In line with our school values of care and compassion, we have a month-long campaign called ‘This Lent, I am giving up only thinking of myself’. In the lead-up to Easter, we will take time to look beyond ourselves and give out to others.
Each week, we will focus on a specific area of need within the local community and ask for specific donations to help to meet the need. This week it is supporting Women’s Aid by providing basic toiletries to women in refuge. Women in refuges turn up with either nothing or a bin bag of their basic belongings. Women’s Aid provides a mini hamper of necessities to help see them through.
This is also a House Competition, and students will be given house points for each item they donate.
