The staff and Governors of St Michael’s Church of England High School take great pleasure in congratulating the 2022 Year 11 cohort for their record breaking GCSE results. We are very excited to celebrate our first set of validated results since 2019 and the best set of results in the school’s history. We would like to thank all staff and parents for ensuring our students received high quality learning experiences and support throughout their time at St. Michael’s. The hard work of our students paid off with 100 percent of our students achieving grade 9-4 or equivalent in Spanish, biology, chemistry, physics and hospitality. Over 90 percent achieved 9-4 in art, textiles, child development, sport, music, performing arts and health and social care.
Over 70 percent of students in the following cohorts achieved good to outstanding grades of 9-5: art, textiles, dance, English, computing, history, Spanish, biology, chemistry, physics, music, child development, hospitality, sport, enterprise and performing arts. Impressively, over 25 per cent of students achieved Grades 9-7 in; English, history, Spanish, biology, chemistry, physics, art, design and technology, child development, hospitality, IT, sport, music, health and social care, enterprise and performing arts. Many of our students achieved grade 9s or the vocational equivalent: in total, 104 students across a range of 24 subject areas (44 percent of our students) achieved the top grade in at least one subject.
Individual performances were extraordinary with one student achieving eight grade 9s or equivalent: Eliana Bankole achieved grade 9 or equivalent in biology, chemistry, English language, history, mathematics, physics, RE and Child Development. Additionally, three students achieved seven grade 9s or equivalent: Honor Cartwright achieved grade 9 or equivalent in art, textiles, science double, English language, English literature, geography, history, sport and two grade 8s in mathematics and RE. Jessica Postings achieved grade 9 or equivalent in biology, chemistry, history, mathematics, physics, music, sport and two grade 8s in English language and English literature and a grade 7 in RE.
We are also very proud of our students who have made significant progress from Key Stage 2. Bartosz Mironiuk made the most progress achieving two grades 9s or equivalent, five grade 8s and two 7s and two 6s followed by Aman Gura, Zuzanna Monaghan, Kiki Paul and Paige Harvey.
All of our students have shown a tremendous amount of determination and resilience over the course of their GCSEs and we are extremely proud of all they have achieved. A special mention must go to our late Headteacher, Mrs Jayne Gray. Our staff and students remember their time with Mrs Gray with great fondness. She worked tirelessly to improve the outcomes for our students and achieving the highest results in the school’s history is a testament to her dedication to the students of St Michael’s. We are confident the academic success our students have achieved along with their personal development whilst at St Michael’s Church of England High School, will ensure these well rounded individuals are ready to contribute positively to society. We wish all of our students the very best in their future and they will always be a part of our St Michael’s family.
