Safeguarding Incidents

Tuesday 6 July 2021: at approximately 8.35 am, a pupil was walking to school, ahead of their parent, when the parent noticed a white medium-sized van driving slowly up the road. The van pulled in close to the pupil and the three male occupants of the van, described as Asian, asked if the pupil wanted some sweets and asked him to “come here”. The pupil ran back to his mother and the van sped off. The police are being informed by the parent. The incident took place on Princess Road, Oldbury

Tuesday 22 June 2021: a parent has reported to a school of a male acting suspiciously in the vicinity of two schools in the Tipton area. The male is reported to sit and watch the school and playground areas. The parent has seen him on a number of occasions. The man was described as in a wheelchair.

Friday 18 June 2021: at approximately 4.15 pm, two students (Year 7 and Year 8) were offered sweets and attempts were made to lure them into a black car by a male. Both students ran home safely. The man was described as Asian and with a stocky build. The police have been notified. The incident took place at the car park of KFC, Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury.

Thursday 17 June 2021: at approximately 8.45 am, a group of three men approached a female student and exposed themselves and committed a “lewd act”. One of the men approached the student but she punched him and ran. Another female was walking in the opposite direction and two of the males started to follow her and the student shouted to her to run. The men were described as Asian, wearing dark clothes and white face masks. The police have been notified. The incident took place at the pathway adjacent to the tramline from West Bromwich to the Hawthorns.

Wednesday 16 June 2021: at approximately 3.45 pm, a student was walking home from school and was followed by a male who was shouting inappropriate comments to her. The student ran into a nearby garden and then home. The man was described as aged 30 plus, approximately 6’ 1” tall, medium build, wearing a plain black hoodie with hood up, grey Nike tracksuit bottoms and blue/red Nike trainers. The police have been notified. The incident took place in the Tipton area.

Wednesday 16 June 2021: at 3.10 pm, while two students were walking home, a male exposed himself. One of the students also witnessed the male committing a sexual act. The students walked away, and the male followed them for a short while; the students went back into school. The man was described as in his 40s, approximately 5ft 6 inches tall, with dark hair and wearing a black face mask, blue jacket and dark blue trousers. The police have been notified. The incident took place in the West Bromwich area.

Tuesday 15 June 2021: at 7.45 am, a Year 7 student was walking along the pavement when a van slammed its brakes on next to the student. The passenger wound his window down and the driver pulled on a red face mask. The student ran home as he was scared. The men were described as Asian, one wearing a bandana. The van was described as a white Transit style van and “quite battered”. The police have been notified. The incident occurred on Bearwood Road, Smethwick.

Friday 11 June 2021: at approximately 7.50 am, a student was walking near the Lidl supermarket in Friar Park, Wednesbury. The student walked past a parked silver transit type van (which had black rails on the top); a male got out of the van and attempted to grab the student. The student crossed the road to get away from the male and ran into the school. The man was described as white, mid-20’s, with “brunette” hair, tall and skinny build. The police have been notified.

Monday 7 June 2021: a Year 9 student, on her way to school, was approached by a white male in a white Transit type van. The male tried to engage in conversation, but the student felt uncomfortable and ran off into school. The police have been notified. The incident took place in Tipton.

Monday 24 May 2021: at 3.10 pm a car pulled over by Causeway Green Road, and asked a member of the public where “Pound Road School was”. She told him, but the car turned into Ashes Road and not Pound Road, and then 10 students came running out saying the man was going to stab them. The driver was described as a white male, mid-’30s, with brown hair and wearing a white cap. The car was described as a blue Peugeot. The students and the member of the public notified the police.

Friday 14 May 2021: at 1.10 pm, a member of staff was walking down Willett Road and was followed by a car. Near the end of the road the car stopped, the male got out of the car and spoke to the member of staff. He asked if she was a student; when she replied that she was a member of staff he quickly got back into his car and drove off. The man was described as Asian, with a bald head. The car was described as a “white people carrier” type car. The police have been notified. The incident took place in Willett Road, West Bromwich.

Thursday 13 May 2021: at 7.55 am, a student was on the way to school when a white transit van slowed down and followed the student. The van stopped, and the driver stared at the student and then drove off. The driver was described as a white male, in his 40s, with a bald head. The incident took place near Blackheath town centre, Rowley Regis.

Friday 30 April 2021: a student saw a group of men arguing near George’s chip shop and BP garage, West Bromwich. The student and her friends decided to run away and the men walked fast behind. The student said they were the same men who had chased another child. The men were described as white. One was wearing a grey tracksuit, had facial stubble, in his late 20s and approximately 5’11”. The second was wearing a black tracksuit, in his early 30s and approximately 5’10” and the third was wearing black jeans, in his early-mid 30s and approximately 5’11”. The police have been notified.

Tuesday 27 April 2021: at approximately 1.45 pm, a student was walking past the entrance to Tividale Park and was approached by a male. The male asked the student some inappropriate questions and the student walked away. He was described as white, aged 19‑20, brown/blonde hair, with a beard, and wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood up. The police have been notified.

Monday 26 April 2021: a student was approached on the way to school by a male who said, “I like you, can I have your phone number?”. The man was described as Asian, dressed in a DPD uniform. The police have been notified. This incident occurred near the DPD deport, between Smethwick/West Bromwich.

Monday 26 April 2021: a Year 6 pupil believes that he was followed on his way to school at 7.30 am. The pupil said that he was followed when he left home (Reginald Road towards Bearwood Road, Smethwick) to go to school. The pupil saw two men in a white van wearing clown masks. The van followed the pupil slowly down the road for a few minutes. The pupil tried to hide and ran into a local shop on Bearwood Road and hid there for a while. The pupil spoke to his mum, who met him and walked him to school. The police have been notified.

Friday 23 April 2021: at approximately 8.10 am a student was approached by two males in a blue “jeep type” car on Greenfield Road. They whistled and shouted at the student. The student started to panic but managed to get to her phone and pretended to call someone and they drove off. The student saw the males again, 15 minutes later, when walking past West Smethwick Park but there were other students about and the car did not stop. The men were described as wearing hi-vis jackets. Police have been notified.

Monday 22 March 2021: at approximately 10.15 am, a student was walking up Lower City Road from Dudley Road East. There was a white Mercedes van, with no number plate, parked with two males standing by it. The student crossed the road and the two males crossed the road also and went towards the student. They spoke but the student could not hear what they said. The student started to run, and the men started to run after the student. The student ran into school, but the men did not follow. The men were described as Asian; one of the males had long curly hair with facial hair and wearing a black jacket and the second male was bald and dressed in black. The police have been notified.

Wednesday 3 March 2021: at approximately 9 am, two students were followed through Red House Park, Great Barr and they felt intimidated. They also reported two suspicious vehicles (a white van and a car) that were actually in the park. The people following the students were described as six Asian males, four in their 50s and two in their 20s. The police have been notified.

Saturday 6 February 2021: between 8.30 am and 9 am, a member of school staff was walking her dog through Barnford Park when she noticed a man who looked suspicious. The man disappeared from sight and the member of staff continued to walk through the park when, suddenly, the man reappeared close behind her. Her dog went for him and the man jumped back and he tried to pacify the dog. At that point, a couple started to come towards them. The man turned and walked away. The man was described as 5’8″/5’9″ tall, skinny, with a goatee beard and wearing jeans and beanie type hat. Police have been notified.

7 – 11 December 2020: a report has been received from a parent that on two occasions two men have been seen leaning on a wall by the bus stop at the top of Salop Road; they do not get on a bus and appear to be watching the students come out of school. These incidents took place in the Oldbury area.

Tuesday 1 December 2020: at 3.20 pm a student, when walking home, was approached by a male. The male, who appeared to be drunk, was verbally abusive towards the student. The man was described as in his 40s, skinny with short brown hair and a little beard. He was wearing a blue shirt. The incident took place in Langley Library, Oldbury.

Monday 23 November 2020: at approximately 3.55 pm, a student was approached by two men who jumped out of a white van and offered the student some sweets from a box. The student, fearing he was going to be grabbed, kicked the box of sweets out of their hands and ran off. The men were described as Asian, with short black hair and dressed in black. The incident took place at Regent Road, Tividale.

Monday 23 November 2020: a male in a white transit van pulled up next to a student after school. The man signalled the student to go to him and she ran away. The man was described as Asian, with black hair and a moustache. Police have been notified. The incident took place at Greenfield Road, Smethwick.

Wednesday 18 November 2020: a student was walking home after school and was followed by a man wearing a black hoodie. The student was followed from Ashes Road, Oldbury for quite a while.

Wednesday 18 November 2020: at 8.20 am while walking to school, a female was grabbed by the arm by a male. He pulled her; she pulled away and ran to a friend’s house. The man was described as approximately 6ft tall and wearing a green coat. The police have been notified. The incident took place at Tame Road, Tipton.

Wednesday 18 November 2020: a male has been seen outside a school and around the local area at the end of the school day, talking to female students and making inappropriate comments. He allegedly had a knife and threatened students. The man was described as 5’6”-5’8” tall, big build, with black short hair and shaved at the sides. The incident took place in the Cradley Heath area.

Monday 16 November 2020: in the morning, a parent was approached by a male in a silver Peugeot car asking for directions. He continued to follow and make comments to her. The incident took place in the Tipton area.

Wednesday 4 November 2020: at approximately 3.50 pm, a white Polo car with five men inside slowed to a stop and three of the men were taking photographs of a parent and her child as they walked from school. The males got out of the car and continued to take photos. The parent rushed her child away as quick as possible. The men were described as Asian and in their late 20s. The incident took place at Old Park Rd end of Alexander Road, Wednesbury. The police have been notified.

Monday 19 October 2020: at 3 pm, a parent saw two young men chase another man with what appeared to be machetes along Suffrage Street, towards Corbett Street. There were three men in total and one of the men had a scooter. The men were described as black, approximately 16 – 17 years old. The police have been notified. The incident took place in Smethwick.

Monday 19 October 2020: 3.20 – 3.30 pm, a parent with a child entered the road and were followed by a male. He followed them part way up the road until a family in a car appeared, he then stopped and crossed over the road and walked away. The man was described as Asian, wearing black clothing and a black cap. The incident took place at Monckton Road, Oldbury, B68 0QX.

Monday 19 October 2020: at 3.30 pm, a student has reported that he was followed home after leaving his friend’s house. The man was described as approximately 5’10” and wearing a light grey tracksuit with the hood up and black trainers. The incident happened near Bleakhouse Junior School

Monday 19 October 2020: at 3.45 pm, a student got off the number 54 bus on Wheeldon Lane, Quinton, and two men in an old white Ford van followed the student down Wheeldon Lane. The men beeped their horn and called the student and his friends over; the boys ran away. The men were described as black. The police have been notified. The incident took place in the Quinton area.

Friday 16 October 2020: at approximately 8.40 am, a student, while walking to school, was approached by a car and asked if the student wanted to buy drugs and stated that they had ‘weed’. A male then showed a clear packet with green leaves in it through the car window to the student. There were three males in the car and the car was described as a black Audi A4.  The men were described as approximately 20 years old. The driver was a white male with facial stubble and wearing black gloves, a camouflage coat, and a green baseball cap. The passenger was a black male and was wearing a black jacket and black gloves and the male in the back seat of the car was white with a little goatee beard and wearing a black Nike tracksuit. The police have been notified. The incident occurred at the Ikea roundabout, near Franchise Street, Wednesbury.

Wednesday 14 October 2020: between 8 – 8.30 am, a man spoke to a group of Year 7 students who were on their way to school. The male followed and made comments to the students, who they believe may have been drunk. The students ran down Bromford Lane towards the roundabout and the man chased them. The man was described as white, 5’10-11”, aged over 40, with a grey/white moustache and beard and wearing a red cap, blue flip flops, grey/black bottoms, red vest and a fleece jacket. The police have been notified. The incident took place at Bromford Lane, West Bromwich (near Margaret Street).

Friday 9 October 2020: at Rowley Village, Rowley Regis and on Monday 12 October 2020 at 8.15 am on Hanover Road, Rowley Regis, a man was seen looking at female students while they walked to school. The man was described as white, approximately 30-40s, slim, average height, short spiky hair and brown eyes and wearing a short cream jacket and dark trousers. The incident occurred in Rowley Regis.

Friday 2 October 2020: at 8.57 am, while walking to school, a Year 7 student was threatened and grabbed by three males. The men were described as aged 15-20 years old and wearing Adidas tracksuits. The incident took place at an alleyway on Ash Tree Road, Cradley Heath.

Wednesday 30 September 2020 at 3.20 pm and Thursday 1 October 2020 at 12noon: a male appeared at a school, saying he was schizophrenic, felt ill and needed help. The school have been made aware the man has “police markers” for carrying a knife. He was described as white, approximately 6 feet tall, aged 28 and wearing a grey coat, black trousers and black and white trainers.

Tuesday 29 September 2020: at 3.35 pm, a parent and her 6 year old daughter, on their way home from school, were approached by a man. The man spoke and made a comment about the hat the child was wearing. The man was described as white, slim, approx. 6 feet tall, 55 years old, with white hair and wearing a thin orange jacket and had a black backpack. The incident took place in the Wednesbury area.

Monday 28 September 2020: a male appeared to be taking photos/videos through the school perimeter fence of children playing. After being approached by a teacher, he moved away from the fence. The man was described as Asian, in his 20’s/early 30’s and wearing a black jacket and black cap. The police have been notified. The incident took place in the West Bromwich area.

Monday 28 September 2020: between 8.30 am – 9 am, a man was standing on the opposite side of the road to a student; he actioned the student to go over to him but the student did not. The man then crossed the road and started to follow the student, remaining approximately 10 metres away from him. The student then cut through the woodland and across the school field. When the student arrived near the school gate, the man was near there so student doubled back. When he walked back to the back gate the man was no longer there.  The man was described as in his late 50’s/early 60’s, wearing a red puffer jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and black smart shoes. The incident took place at Tame Road (under the bridge before school fields).

Wednesday 23 September 2020: at approximately 7.55 am, a student was approached by five males who were riding scooters. The student who was on the phone was asked if he was on the phone to the police; he said no and made his way to school. The student has reported that the males were acting suspiciously. The men were described as white, all approximately 6 foot, one was wearing a blue tracksuit and one wearing a grey tracksuit. All males were wearing masks. The police have been notified. The incident occurred at Perry’s Park Pitfields Close, Oldbury.

Monday 21 September 2020: in the morning, a student has reported that he was followed on the way to school along Wolverhampton Road. The man was described as having brown hair and wearing a blue Adidas tracksuit. The incident took place in the Oldbury area.

Friday 11 September 2020:  a student was walking along St Marks Road when a grey transit van pulled out and started driving alongside. The student saw some students and went towards them. The van sped past and turned into Queens Road. The man was described as possibly 30s or early 40s. The police have been notified. The incident took place in the Oldbury area.
