As part of St Michael’s Christian vision, which encourages students to show love, care, and kindness to all in our community, in the week beginning Monday, 10^th November, we celebrate our Love Your Neighbour Week at school. This is in line with National Interfaith Week and National Anti-Bullying Week. Across the course of the week, there will be a range of activities enabling students and staff to celebrate the diversity of faith and no faith at St Michael’s, as well as considering how the concept of loving our neighbours could lead to a positive impact on the reduction in bullying within school communities. We are encouraging the school values of Equality and Care & Compassion, through the way students and staff will be reflecting on the beliefs and values that we live by every day, and how we treat others who have different beliefs and values from our own.

As part of the week’s activities, we will be allowing students to wear an odd pair of socks or an alternative tie to school on Wednesday, 12^th November. The idea behind this links to the National Anti-Bullying Campaign. It is also a way to celebrate our differences and use this as a physical reminder that we all have different beliefs about life’s big questions, and we can appreciate, accept, and include everyone, no matter if their beliefs are different from our own. All students will be able to choose to participate in this day if they so wish.
