The Matrix Project is a group of boys spanning years 7-11 who form a weekly lunchtime meeting that tackles the inherent stigma around men expressing their emotions: challenging the stereotypes of what it means to be a “man”.
The Matrix Project has provides a safe space for boys to openly discuss topics surrounding their own mental health without the fear of embarrassment and has given boys a greater representation within the decisions made in school. They regularly consult with male members of staff and it is this work and discussion that has led to the creation of multiple campaigns, both within school and the wider community, that help encourage men to speak out about their own struggles and to support their peers.
‘Am I Manly Enough?’ has been endorsed by many famous faces, such as Roman Kemp, Chris Stark, Ben Francis, Daryl Dike and Bradley Simpson.
